The Pillar Diaries began while Ashley was pregnant with her first child. She felt God move on her heart about the importance of one day sharing her real testimony with her daughter. Ashley didn't want to give her a polished or softened version, but the honest story of how Jesus truly rescued and restored her mother. It was a deeply personal calling that reminded her that authenticity is where the power is. The fullness of God’s grace is always best revealed through our truth rather than our perfection.

As Ashley prayed over this, she kept coming back to the book of Joshua and the stones gathered from the Jordan River to build a memorial. Those stones were a reminder for future generations so that when children asked about them, they would hear the story of God’s faithfulness. Yet later on, Scripture tells us a generation arose who didn't know the Lord or His works. That means somewhere along the line, the stories simply stopped being told. This deeply convicted Ashley: if we don't share how God brought us out of our Egypt and through the wilderness, the next generation might never fully recognize His miracles for themselves.
